The National Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil held the 2025 Academic and Cultural Exchange Annual Conference

From December 6th to 7th, the 2025 Academic and Cultural Exchange Annual Conference of the National Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil was grandly held in the East Building of the Library of China University of Petroleum (East China). Wu Qiangming, the Party Secretary of China University of Petroleum (East China), and Xu Chunming, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the director of the laboratory, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The conference was chaired by Professor Tian Yuanyu. More than 320 people, including experts and scholars from China University of Petroleum (East China) and China University of Petroleum (Beijing), representatives from laboratories and the School of Chemical and Chemical Engineering, as well as heads of cooperation enterprises, gathered together，the discussion focused on the latest research achievements of the laboratory and the cutting-edge technologies in the field of heavy oil.

He stated that the school will further integrate resources and optimize its layout, providing more space and resource support for the high-quality and long-term development of the laboratory.

Academician Xu Chunming reviewed the development history of the laboratory's annual conference, Summarized the construction achievements after the reorganization and proposed the key tasks for the next step, We look forward to the laboratory achieving success through the joint efforts of researchers from both universities, the overall level of scientific research has been further enhanced.

This academic annual conference adopts various communication modes such as plenary reports, thematic reports, invited reports, oral presentations and wall poster exhibitions. During the conference presentation session, the laboratory invited Professor Zong Baoning from Sinopec Petrochemical Science Research Institute and Professor Xiao Chongfu from Zhejiang University to deliver the conference presentations titled "Green Chemical Technology of Sinopec Petrochemical Research Institute" and "Green Synthesis and Efficient Catalysis of Zeolite Molecular Sieves", respectively, it expanded the academic horizons for the participants and the teachers and students of the school.

This meeting also established four specialized sub-forums, it focuses separately on four major themes: heavy oil chemistry, heavy oil conversion catalysts, heavy oil conversion processes and engineering, as well as energy storage materials and hydrogen energy. Through forms such as keynote speeches, invited presentations, and oral presentations, A total of 140 high-quality academic reports have been presented, and simultaneously display 67 academic posters from students of the two campuses, establish a dual-track communication model of "reports + wall posters".The teachers and students attending the meeting were highly enthusiastic,by sharing through various means such as reports, wall presentations, and special discussions, one actively shares one's research findings,and in-depth and lively discussions and exchanges were carried out around the relevant topics. The intelligent sparks continued to burst forth within the venue, the collision of different research perspectives has sparked new innovative inspirations, opened up broader research perspectives for researchers. It not only injects strong impetus into the development of the laboratory, but also vividly demonstrates the unique pivotal role of academic exchanges in the process of knowledge production.
