From December 1st to 9th, 2025, to strengthen the construction of the National Key Laboratory for Chemical Safety, Liu Yi, Deputy Director of the Laboratory Management Office, and his secretary Qi Meng went to the United States for academic visits and talent recruitment. During this period, the delegation participated in the Autumn Conference of Purdue Process Safety and Assurance Center (Purdue P2SAC Fall Conference) and conducted research exchanges at FM Global, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), achieving positive progress in laboratory management construction, cutting-edge direction layout, and the expansion of talent recruitment and development channels.

From December 2nd to 3rd, the visiting delegation attended the P2SAC autumn conference, carried out exchanges with professors from Purdue University and representatives from companies such as Kenexis, PSRG, BakerRisk, ExxonMobil, AcuTech, and Shell, the key learning contents include dust explosion prevention and control, major accident risk assessment, process safety information management, and the application of AI tools, and conducted in-depth discussions with the P2SAC management team and teacher representatives on topics such as chemical safety education and talent training models, fault diagnosis based on large models and HAZOP, process electrification and intrinsic safety design, the initial intention to conduct joint research and exchange and cooperation in the future has been formed.

From December 4th to 5th, the visiting delegation went to Boston to visit FM Company and visit the fire and rescue laboratory, investigate its platform layout and technical system in the fields of fire combustion simulation and large-scale experimental research, understand the safety and environmental protection measures such as the fire experiment device, fire water system and smoke gas treatment, this has direct reference value for the future experimental research on fire safety to be conducted in the laboratory. At the same time, I paid a visit to the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT, communicated with postdoctoral researchers on the topics of process safety and system engineering, and learned about the experience of interdisciplinary organization and scientific research talent cultivation.

From December 6th to 7th, the visiting delegation went to UTSA for a research visit, visit the chemical safety laboratory and learn about its safety management system, curriculum and experimental system, as well as the admission requirements for student safety training; At the same time, we held a discussion with Chinese international students studying at the school, introduce the conditions of our university's research platforms and the policies for talent recruitment, deeply discuss the models such as international cooperation, postdoctoral mobility and exchange visits, Further expand the channels for connecting with overseas young talents.

This visit was carried out through high-level academic exchanges, benchmark institution research and precise talent matching, it significantly enhanced the international cooperation network of the laboratory and the effectiveness of talent recruitment and cultivation, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality construction and innovative development of the laboratory.
