Our institution achieved outstanding results once again in the 17th Shandong Province College Students' Environmental Creativity Competition

Recently,the final of the 17th Shandong University Students'Science and Technology Festival–the"Huandai Environment Cup"Shandong Provincial University Students'Environmental Innovation Competition–was successfully concluded.Co-organized by Shandong Association for Science and Technology(SAST),Department of Education of Shandong Province,Communist Youth League Shandong Provincial Committee(CYL Shandong Committee),Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission(SDRC),Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology(SDIIT),and Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security(SDHRSS),the event was attended by guests including Xu Pei,Deputy Secretary-General of Shandong Society of Environmental Sciences(SSES),Li Yang,Vice Chairman of Rizhao Association for Science and Technology(RZAST),Xu Xiquan,Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Rizhao Polytechnic(RP),and Qi Xin,Secretary of the General Party Branch of the Department of Marine Technology,who delivered speeches at the final.

Closely aligned with the strategic needs of national ecological environmental protection and sustainable development, this competition has set up multiple tracks including technological innovation, creative design, and environmental practice, with content covering cutting-edge fields such as pollution control, resource recycling, low-carbon technology, ecological restoration, and smart environmental protection. The event attracted the participation of 74 universities and 520 teams across the province. After four months of rigorous selection, 30 outstanding works from 24 universities finally stood out and successfully advanced to the final round for on-site defense.

After fierce competition and rigorous evaluation,students from the Department of Environmental and Safety Engineering of our university performed exceptionally well in this competition,winning a total of 14 awards.Among them,the project entitled"Carbon Chain:The Path of Nickel Electrochemical Catalytic Regeneration of Amine-Bound CO₂–Research on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Utilization",supervised by Professor Liu Fang of our institute and led by Sheng Yu,a 2024-level graduate student,won the first prize;another 13 entries received the third prize.These achievements fully demonstrate the students'outstanding innovation capability and practical competence.This competition has provided an important platform for young students to showcase their innovative wisdom and practice the concept of environmental protection,and effectively stimulated college students'enthusiasm for engaging in green technological innovation.The outcomes of the event not only reflect the crucial role of technological innovation in environmental protection,but also play a positive role in nurturing environmental protection talents and supporting the construction of ecological civilization.
