To effectively advance the planning and construction of the university’s Intelligent Computing Center (ICC) and accurately address the computing needs of frontline teaching and research, Song Tao, Director of the Department of Information Technology Construction (DITC), and his team visited our School on November 17 to conduct a special survey on the construction of the computing platform. Deputy Directors of DITC—Song Wenwen, Lin Chao, Xia Lingyun—and heads of relevant departments, as well as our School leaders Hao Zhijie, Zeng Jingbin, Liu Fang, Xu Guanghui, and faculty representatives, attended the seminar.

At the seminar, Zeng Jingbin first expressed his gratitude to the Department of Information Technology Construction (DITC) for its long-term support for the School’s development. Based on the previous internal survey on computing needs conducted within the School, he systematically reported the actual demand and growth expectations for intelligent computing capacity in the School’s cutting-edge research fields—including artificial intelligence (AI), big data simulation, and high-performance computing (HPC)—and introduced the problems encountered by teachers and students in the use of computing resources. Participants also actively shared their insights regarding the urgent demand for computing resources, existing bottlenecks, and expectations for the university’s future computing infrastructure development. Relevant responsible persons from DITC listened carefully to the opinions of the faculty and provided on-site responses and clarifications on issues of common concern to everyone.

Song Tao introduced the planning background of the university’s Intelligent Computing Center (ICC), advanced construction experience from other universities in the province, and the university’s overall promotion plan. He stated that the Department of Information Technology Construction (DITC) attaches great importance to the computing needs of each School. Guided by serving the university’s major strategies and cutting-edge scientific research, the department will fully absorb the results of this survey, scientifically plan and comprehensively coordinate the construction of the university’s ICC.

In his concluding remarks, Secretary Hao Zhijie emphasized that high-level computing infrastructure is a crucial element supporting the School in conducting high-level scientific research and an important guarantee for enhancing the core competitiveness of the university’s research work. He stated that the School will fully cooperate with and actively participate in the construction of the university’s Intelligent Computing Center (ICC). Taking this as an opportunity, it will further optimize internal resource allocation and elevate the research work to a new level.

Both parties present at the seminar unanimously stated that they will establish a closer communication and collaboration mechanism, build consensus, form synergy, and jointly advance the construction and optimization of the university’s high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. This will provide a solid and reliable digital base and innovative momentum for the university’s "Double First-Class" initiative and its high-quality, connotative development.
