Lianyungang to expand job opportunities

To deepen university-enterprise cooperation and precisely align talent supply and demand, from November 7 to 8, Hao Zhijie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, and Xu Guanghui, Deputy Party Secretary, led a delegation to Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province, to carry out the "Visiting Enterprises to Expand Employment Opportunities" activity. They were also invited to attend the opening ceremony of the "2025 Huaguoshan Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week (HTIEW)".

During the event, accompanied by Zhou Jiang—Deputy Director of Xuwei New District Administrative Committee (XWNAC), Leader of the Petrochemical Industry Science and Technology Town Mayor Group, and Professor from Peking University—the delegation successively visited the Xuwei District History Museum, Underground Comprehensive Pipe Gallery, Operation and Management Service Center of the Petrochemical Industry Base, Sewage Treatment Plant, and New Materials Pilot Scale Test Base of the National East-Central-West Regional Cooperation Demonstration Zone (NECWRCDZ). They systematically gained a comprehensive understanding of the new district’s planning layout, infrastructure, and industrial ecosystem; conducted on-site visits to leading domestic chemical enterprises such as Satellite Chemical Co., Ltd., Shenghong Petrochemical Co., Ltd., and Sinochem Circular Economy, and thoroughly grasped the current status of intelligent and digital transformation in chemical enterprises as well as the demand for technical talents. The delegation also personally experienced Xuwei New District’s green and low-carbon development concept, the striving spirit of "tenacity, responsibility, efficiency, and innovation," and the progressive posture of "achieving leapfrog development despite a late start."

During this period, Hao Zhijie held discussions with Zhou Jiang on the development of the high-end chemical industry, pilot scale test bases, enterprise needs, talent cultivation, and graduate employment. He also paid a visit to Associate Professor Zhang Jinhong from our School, who is on secondment as Science and Technology Town Mayor in Xuwei New District.

Through this on-site visit, the School gained a deeper understanding of the development trends and employment needs of local enterprises in Lianyungang. Moving forward, the School will further improve its talent cultivation system, strengthen university-enterprise cooperation, precisely align enterprise needs with those of the School, and provide higher-quality talents for society.

Xuwei New District of Lianyungang City is the pilot area of the National East-Central-West Regional Cooperation Demonstration Zone (NECWRCDZ) approved by the State Council. Its core carrier—the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base (LPIB)—is one of the seven major petrochemical industry bases strategically planned by the state. Three major industrial clusters have gathered here, namely Shenghong Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Satellite Chemical Co., Ltd., and Sinochem Circular Economy Industrial Park. The area has also attracted a number of large state-owned enterprises and leading private enterprises, including Sinochem International Corporation (SIC), Fangyang Group Co., Ltd., and Yangjing Petrochemical Co., Ltd., forming a modern industrial system dominated by petrochemicals, high-end equipment manufacturing, high-performance new materials, and harbor-front logistics.
