On November 6, Secretary Hao Zhijie and Vice Dean Zeng Jingbin led a team from the College Safety Supervision Office (CSSO) to enter the relevant experimental buildings of Tangdaowan Campus (TDWC) and re-examine the rectification status of recently identified potential safety hazards (PSHs). The inspection focused on the laboratories in Building A of the Basic Experimental Building (BEB-A), which had more safety incidents and received more red and yellow card warnings.

The inspection team re-examined the progress of rectifying potential safety hazards in the relevant laboratories, had an exchange with the teachers and students present regarding laboratory safety management, understand the situation regarding the arrival of laboratory personnel and the implementation of safety management measures, check the maintenance status of the emergency shower and eyewash devices, and guidelines were provided regarding the safety of water and electricity usage in the laboratory, the safety of hazardous chemicals, fire safety, and the on-site supervision of experiments. After conducting on-site inspections, the inspection team learned that after the rectification process, the messy and dirty conditions in most laboratories have significantly improved, and the environment has become much cleaner, the obsolete instruments and equipment have been gradually disposed of and scrapped, the medicines and reagents are neatly arranged, the amount of hazardous waste has decreased, and the situation of blocked passageways has been largely resolved. However, there are still some laboratories that have problems such as excessive inventory, lax management of gas cylinders, and poor ventilation. Regarding the issues identified during the inspection, the inspection team requested that further rectification be carried out, to effectively ensure the safety of teachers and students' lives and property, and to guarantee the smooth progress of the college's teaching and research work.

The College will continue to advance standardized laboratory safety management, urge laboratory personnel to firmly establish safety awareness and strengthen their safety responsibilities, safeguard the personal safety of teachers and students, support the school’s development, and call on all faculty and students of the College to jointly create an efficient, safe, clean and standardized laboratory environment.
