On September 16th, the college held a major event in Room 114 of the South Building, mainly targeting the students of Class 2401 of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Chemical Engineeringcarried out the first session of the " Research Journey Start" research group presentation, display the outstanding achievements of the research team of the college, help the students of the 2024 integrated undergraduate and postgraduate class to understand the academic frontiers, promote the two-way selection between mentors and students. This presentation was hosted by Jie Yu from Class 2401 of our Chemical Engineering major, the Functional Materials and Membrane Separation Team, the Porous Materials and Applications Team, and the Intelligent Chemicals Research Group respectively gave their presentations, student Han Yuyang from Class 22 of this semester participated.

Hou Yingfei, the director of the school's academic affairs office, the dean of Huicui College, and a professor of the Chemical and Chemical Engineering College, gave a lecture on the research direction of the functional materials and membrane separation team, from the core research contents of the team, such as the preparation of new membrane materials and membrane separation technology for industrial wastewater treatment, the breakthrough achievements in national-level projects in recent years, and then to the training model for team members and the academic exchange platform, converting professional knowledge into content that is easy for beginners to understand in a simple and clear manner, enable students to have a direct and vivid understanding of the application value and research charm of this field.

Professor Bai Peng delivered a lecture on the team specializing in porous materials and their applications. He began by delving into the structural characteristics of porous materials, based on the research examples of the team in the fields of catalytic materials and environmental adsorption materials, vividly expounds the wide range of application scenarios of porous materials in the field of chemical engineering. At the same time, Bai Peng specifically mentioned the university-industry-research cooperation projects of the team and the enterprise, emphasize the role of the implementation of scientific research results in promoting the development of the industry, and encourage students to combine their own interests, Actively learn about the experimental platforms and research topics of the research group, and cultivate scientific thinking in advance.

Introducing the outstanding doctoral student Zhang Zhenyu from the Intelligent Manufacturing Research Group, He focused on the deep integration of artificial intelligence and chemical processes, the research progress of the research group in the fields of intelligent optimization of chemical processes and digital twins of reaction processes was explained. He presented specific algorithm application cases, showed the students how intelligent technology can enhance the efficiency and safety of chemical production, at the same time, it also introduced the distinctive feature of the research group, which is to emphasize the integration of programming skills and chemical engineering knowledge in the student training process, It provides clear and definite directions for the freshmen who have an interest in interdisciplinary learning.

During the interactive session, the students shared their own doubts regarding the research direction, ask questions actively regarding professional selection and the process of joining the research group, etc, each team patiently answered questions, and the on-site communication atmosphere was very lively.
