On the afternoon of August 30th, in order to further strengthen the communication between the school and the families, to leverage the synergy of family and school education, and to assist students' growth, the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering held a parents' meeting for the 2025-level undergraduate students and a mental health-themed education lecture in the Yi Fugan Hall. The vice dean of the college, Jin Xin, the deputy secretary of the college's Party committee, Xu Guanghui, and the associate professor of the student mental health education center, Han Xudong, attended the meeting. More than 300 parents of freshmen from various majors in the college participated, and Lan Lin, the counselor for the 2025 batch of undergraduate students, presided over the meeting.

Luan Lin extended a warm welcome to all the new parents and expressed gratitude to them for choosing the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Jin Xin provided a detailed account of the school and college's historical development, the establishment of various undergraduate programs, and the specialized training system of the college. Jin Xin emphasized that the college will focus on cultivating the professional qualities of undergraduate students, and will leverage the college's high-quality research and innovation platforms to provide students with diversified and personalized training programs, helping each student realize their personal value in their respective fields.

Han Xudong gave a special lecture on the issue of college students' mental health to the parents present. Starting from the current situation of mental health among teenagers across the country, he cited data from the National Health Commission report and other sources to emphasize the importance of preventing the occurrence of youth crisis events. He then analyzed three aspects: the causes of mental disorders among college students, psychological troubles during the university stage, and how families should deal with psychological problems. He called on parents to pay attention to and care about their children's mental health. Subsequently, he also shared several techniques for parent-child communication with the new parents, helping them handle the parent-child relationship in a good way.

Xu Guanghui gave an introduction from three aspects: the latest progress in the construction of the current school and college, the daily education management of college students, and how to scientifically and reasonably spend one's college life. He focused on the key points of student management, academic atmosphere construction, and career choice, emphasizing the significance of regular communication between home and school for timely grasping of students' dynamics, collaborative resolution of growth problems, and achieving high-quality development of students. He suggested that parents should "trust but not abandon" their children, and students should "be independent but not lonely" at school. The home and school should work together to ensure that students successfully complete their undergraduate studies.

After the parents' meeting, Jin Xin, Xu Guanghui and Ning Hui from the Chemical Engineering Department answered the questions raised by the parents of the students.
The holding of this parent meeting enabled new parents to have a more comprehensive understanding of the school and college's educational policies as well as students' study and life situations. It enhanced parents' confidence in their children's future development and was conducive to strengthening the collaboration between home and school, thereby creating a better educational environment for students' growth and success.
