Two students were awarded " Top Ten Student Role Models of UPC"

Recently, the results of the 2025 "Top Ten Student Role Models" selection at China University of Petroleum (East China) were announced. Yue Changle, a 2022 doctoral student, and Ma Chen, a 2022 undergraduate student from our college, were honored with the title of "Top Ten Student Role Models". The selection process included student applications, school recommendations, university qualification reviews, final defense presentations, and a public announcement of the final list. The evaluation focused on the candidates' overall development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education.

Yue Changle, female, is a member of the Communist Party of China and a 2022 doctoral candidate in Chemistry at the College of Chemical Engineering, under the supervision of Prof. Lu Yukun. Her research focuses on energy catalysis-oriented inorganic synthetic chemistry.

She was admitted to the master's program at the university in 2020 through a merit-based exemption and transitioned to a Ph.D. program in 2022. In 2024, she was awarded a scholarship by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) for a joint training program and is currently pursuing further studies at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).To date, she has published 18 SCI-indexed papers, including 9 as first/corresponding author in prestigious journals such as Energy & Environmental Science (SCI Q1, IF=32.4). She has presented at 4 domestic and international academic conferences, publishing 2 conference papers, and has led 2 graduate innovation research projects. Additionally, she serves as a trainee editor and reviewer for the journal Environmental Science and Ecotechnology.

Ma Chen, a probationary member of the Communist Party of China, is a 2022-level undergraduate student majoring in Energy Chemical Engineering at the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. His overall academic performance ranks 1st among 54 students in his major and he has received numerous honors and awards, including the National Scholarship, the "Weiqi" Scholarship of China Oilfield Services, the "Science and Technology Star" award of the university, the "Thousand Outstanding College Students" award of Qingdao, and the "Innovative Excellence Star Scholarship" of national and provincial levels. As the project leader, he won the National Silver Award in the International College Students' Innovation Competition (2024), was the first contributor to the National Second Prize in the College Students' Life Science Competition, won the First Prize in the Shandong College Students' Science and Technology Festival, and received the First Prize in the National College Students' Mathematics Competition, etc., with over 20 national and provincial awards. He successfully completed the large-scale innovation project with an "excellent" grade and was selected for the "Three-Step Plan for Outstanding Undergraduates". As the first author, he published one SCI paper (under review), co-authored three SCI papers, and applied for four national invention patents. Currently, he is a peer mentor for "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" at China University of Petroleum (East China), the director of the Learning and Innovation Department of the Student Union, and a member of the grade working group.

Every year, the school conducts the "Top Ten Student Role Models" to recognize outstanding individuals, guiding students to foster lofty communist ideals and the common aspirations of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This initiative encourages young scholars to grow into well-rounded socialist builders and successors with moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor excellence, while strengthening their social responsibility, innovative spirit, and practical abilities. It showcases the enterprising spirit of our student body.
