Deepening Collaboration and Attracting Talent: College Visits to the United States

From October 27 to October 31, a delegation of three led by Vice Dean Zeng Jingbin visited four renowned universities in the United States to promote research collaboration, talent cultivation. This visit included stops at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of California, Riverside (UCR), the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and Texas A&M University (TAMU).

During the visit to UCLA, the delegation met with Professor Jun Chen’s research group, toured their laboratory, and discussed cutting-edge research directions to deepen collaboration between the two institutions in the field of chemical engineering.  

At UCR, the delegation had an in-depth meeting with Vice Provost for International Affairs Marko Princevac, and both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This agreement establishes a foundation for future faculty and student exchanges and research collaboration. In addition, Vice Dean Zeng’s delegation held extensive discussions with Professor Yin Yadong on talent development models, research project collaboration, and recruiting young talent.

At UTSA, the delegation had face-to-face discussions with Professor Guanshi Zhang’s research group and other scholars, touring related lab facilities. Their discussions focused on the forefront of chemical engineering research and technological innovation, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.  

The delegation concluded their visit at TAMU, where they engaged in in-depth discussions with PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in chemical engineering. Vice Dean Zeng introduced the discipline development plans, and employment opportunities at China University of Petroleum (East China), addressing questions and interests from young scholars on-site.

This visit has strengthened trust and collaboration between China University of Petroleum (East China) and prestigious universities in the United States, advancing the university’s international strategy and building a broader platform for talent research partnerships. The signing of the strategic cooperation agreement with UCR, tours of UCLA laboratories, Vice Dean Zeng’s presentation at UTSA, and discussions with young researchers at TAMU are highlights that will infuse fresh momentum into the college’s international development efforts.
