Alumnus Zhang Xi was awarded " Outstanding Entrepreneur of Shandong Province"

On February 7th, Shandong Province 2022 Work Mobilization Conference was held to commend eminent entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and outstanding entrepreneurs in Shandong Province. Zhang Xi, chairman of Shandong Sinocera Functional Materials Co., Ltd., and 1990-class alumnus of petroleum processing in our college, won the honorary title of Shandong Excellent Entrepreneur.

This commendation was the first time of on-spot commendation of entrepreneurs, aiming at promoting entrepreneurship, focusing on new economic engine, new economy, and innovative growth, encouraging private entrepreneurs to start a business, encouraging young entrepreneurs to innovate and start-up business, and showing entrepreneurs' national feelings and responsibilities. After discussion by Shandong Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Shandong Provincial People's Government, three comrades, Zhang Ruimin, Tan Xuguang and Chen Xueli, were awarded the title of Eminent Entrepreneur of Shandong Province with first-class merit; 20 comrades, including Zhou Houjian, were awarded the title of Leading Entrepreneur of Shandong Province Industry, with first-class merit; and 49 comrades, including Li Guangqing, were awarded the title of Outstanding Entrepreneur of Shandong Province.

Zhang Xi, male, Han nationality, was born in February 1974 in Dongying City, Shandong Province. He graduated from China University of Petroleum (East China) in July 1995, majoring in petrochemical engineering. After graduating from the University of Houston in 2001, he returned to China to start a business, and successively founded Dongying Yingtai Petroleum Technology Co., Ltd. and Shandong Sinocera Functional Materials Co., Ltd. (National Porcelain Materials), etc. He is currently the legal representative and chairman of Shandong Sinocera Functional Materials Co., Ltd., and has been awarded the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, China Patent Gold Award, Shandong Province Overseas Entrepreneurship Award, Top 10 Dongying Economic Person, etc. In 2017, he has won the National Special Support Program for High-level Talents (Ten Thousand Talents Program), and in 2018, he won the honorary title of Alumni Star of China University of Petroleum (East China). Zhang Xi has led a team for research, development, production, and sales of new materials. Relying on the key preparation technology of the hydrothermal method, Shandong Sinocera Functional Materials Co., Ltd. has become the world's largest manufacturer of ultrafine nano barium titanate powder, and also the world's first manufacturer of zirconia and alumina nano powder by hydrothermal method. Now it has become the largest manufacturer of special ceramic materials and the largest manufacturer of high-end functional ceramic materials in China.

Shandong Sinocera Functional Materials Co., Ltd. is a high-tech enterprise specializing in R&D and manufacturing of functional ceramic materials, which was established in April 2005 and listed on GEM of Shenzhen Stock Exchange in January 2012. The company has won the fourth batch of individual champion demonstration manufacturing enterprises from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the top 50 leading enterprises of new materials in Shandong Province, and the 8th Shandong Provincial Governor Quality Award. In 2021, the output value is expected to be 3 billion yuan, the profit is 800 million yuan, and the current market value is about 46 billion yuan.
