On the morning of 3rd Nov, The State Science and Technology Award Conference was held in The Great Hall of the People. Professor TIAN yuanyu from our college attended the conference and was honored with 2nd prize of the State Technological Innovation Award for the achievement of “The Creation and applications of humic acid environmental materials by rapid pyrolysis of typical agricultural and forest residues”.
The project “The Creation and applications of humic acid environmental materials by rapid pyrolysis of typical agricultural and forest residues” was accomplished by Professor TIAN yuanyu (the 1st completer), Professor QIAO yingyun (the 2nd completer), Professor YANG Chaohe (the 4th completer), etc. Our country is producing 1.35 billion tons of agricultural and forest residues, but their value-added utilization technology is lacking. In addition, 5.5 billion arces of degraded land urgently requires green remedy materials. To address the aforementioned issues, the research team innovatively created the new production process of humic acid via rapid pyrolysis using the self-mixing circulating fluidized bed downer. The team also invented the liquid-phase ash-control method via fractionation and circulation of heat carriers. Based on these, the exclusive equipment was created for the rapid pyrolysis of agricultural and forest residues, and the largest single installation with an annual operational capacity of 200, 000 tons has been built in this project. The team led by Prof TIAN realized the industrialization of high purity and high active humic acid production using agricultural and forest residues, which will lead to the development of biomass pyrolysis technology. Aiming at the different requirements of the distinct degenerated soils, a series of targeted remedy materials could then be produced through the controlled cross-linking of biomass-derived humic acid and realized the sustainable remedy of degenerated soils. The pilot application of the targeted humic acid-based environmental materials has been carried out in more than 20 provinces and cities with remarkable social and environmental benefits. China University of Petroleum (East China) has become the first university to sign a strategic agreement with Cultivated Land Quality Monitoring and Protection Center, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for the “Action of Restoring Polluted Soil”. Because of strong technological support for value-added utilization biomass for soil remedy, our university will make a significant contribution to the construction of ecological civilization and beautiful countryside.
