The biennial Chinese Zeolite Conference was held in Qingdao at CREC International Convention and Exhibition Centerfrom 27th to 30th September 2021. Professor Zifeng Yan and S.M. from China University of Petroleum (East China) co-chaired the conference. The executive chairperson was Professor Xinmei Liu from China University of Petroleum (East China).ProfessorJun Yao, vice president of China University of Petroleum (East China), delivered the welcome speech. Professor Jihong Yu from Jilin University, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the chairperson of Chinese Zeolite Association, delivered the opening speech during the opening ceremony.ProfessorMartin HartmannandProfessor S. M. delivered the congratulatory speech on behalf of the International Zeolite Association and the Federation of European Zeolite Associations, respectively.
Thetheme of the conference was “Porous Materials for Future Energy”.This conferenceprovided a forum to report the most recent scientific and technological advances in zeolites and related porous materials from both China and abroad. The program particularly focused on recent developments in synthesis, characterization, application, computational and theoretical aspects, and related investigations, with a special emphasis on the role of zeolites and related porous in energy reform and sustainable development. The conference themes include:
A. Synthesis and modification of molecular sieves
B. Hierarchical molecular sieves
C. Characterizations and theoretical calculations
D. Molecular sieves for catalysis
E. Molecular sieves and energy chemistry
F. Molecular sieves for adsorption, separation, and diffusion
G. Porous materials for emerging applications
H. Inorganic porous materials (mesoporous molecular sieves, porous carbon materials, porous alumina, etc)
I. Porous polymers and framework-type materials (COF, MOF, PAF, Zeolite-type crystal structuring in complex metal oxide, etc)
J. Zeolites and C1 chemistry
During the conference, over 1200 Chinese delegates descended to Qingdao, and over 250 Chinese delegates and 30 international delegates participated virtually to listen to invited international and national speakers and participated in three-day program alongside an interactive social program which catered for students, researchers, and industry practitioners.
The total number of abstracts submitted to the conference was more than 900. There were 12 invited international and national plenary speakers, 31 keynote speeches, 63 invited talks, and 200 oral and short oral presentations, in addition to the more than 400 poster presentations.A theme forum on “advanced porous materials for sustainable development” was held during the conference. In addition, the 2021 International symposium on zeolites and related porous materials with 24 distinguished invitees from 17 different countries was held on 28th– 29th September 2021. This event was open to all participants in the field of zeolites and porous materials.
