Pan Yuan won Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award

   Pan Yuan, an associate professor of our college, won the Youth Award of Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award during the annual meeting of Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China (CIESC) held in Shenyang on September 25~26.

Pan Yuan, associate professor, young expert of Taishan Scholar, was selected as a high-level leading talent in Qingdao West Coast New Area and an advanced individual in the new era of youth achievements of China University of Petroleum (East China). He isengaged in the field of green energy catalysis, mainly focusing on the accurate construction and regulation of single-atom catalysts, exploring the structure-activity relationship between catalyst structure and reaction performance, strengthening the selective activation and directional conversion of molecules on the catalyst, so as to realize the efficient utilization of energy and the greening of chemical process. In recent years, as the first/corresponding author, he has published 46 high-quality papers in journals such as Matter、Nat. Commun., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. and so on. The research results have been cited by Nature, Nat. Mater., Chem. Rev.and other publications for more than 4600 times, with a maximum of more than 800 times for a single article, and the H-index is 30. He has presided over 9 projects such as National Natural Science Foundation of China, Shandong Natural Science Foundation, and Innovation Technology Funding of China Petroleum. He has applied for 20 Chinese invention patents and 10 of themhave been authorized. He has won China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, one of China's 100 Most Influential International Academic Papers Award, the Second-Class Prize of Qingdao Natural Science Award and the Second-Class Prize of CIESC. He is a member of Young Scientists Association of Shandong Province, a member of High-Level Talent Development Promotion Association of Shandong Province and a guest editor of Frontier in Chemistry.

Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award is established by CIESC to commemorate the contribution of Mr. Hou Debang, a famous scientist, for the development of chemical industry and technology of our country. Since 1999, 13 awards have been held, and a total of 404 excellent chemical science and technology workers have been commended and rewarded, which has made important contributions to cultivating and recommending excellent chemical science and technology talents, promoting scientific and technological elites to stand out and stimulating the innovation potential of scientific and technological talents. Hou Debang Chemical Science and Technology Award has three awards, namely Achievement Award, Innovation Award and Youth Award. A total of 5 Achievement Awards, 14 Innovation Awards and 29 Youth Awards were selected this year.
